How does Cambridge’s 4D Laser Lip Plumping Treatment work?

Cambridge’s 4D Laser Lip Plumping Treatment is non-intrusive, so that patients produce their own collagen in their lips. With many carefully customised passes, the treatment delivers a volume lips balance between the upper and lower lips, as well as a well-defined vermilion border. 

As the optical energy is transmitted in a single sub-second long pulse sequence to avoid a build-up of heat, the surface tissue will stimulate new collagen production, enhancing the elasticity and texture in the lips within 6-7 pulses. For deeper collagen stimulation, the treatment is also done intra-orally on the mucosal lining (on the inside) of the lips. This reaches the deeper underlying skin tissues which help with collagen production from the inside.   

The two 4D lasers will then comfortably heat the deeper layers of skin between 42 – 45°C. The tightening effect can be described as neocollagenesis initiated with the expression of heat shock proteins (HSP), resulting in the generation of new collagen fibres. Maintaining the temperature for a few minutes further contributes to the improvement of thickness and elasticity in the facial skin.

Patients may experience slight sensations of heat and the upper lips may feel a little warm with minimal pain. Numbing cream will be provided upon request.

Recovery Time & Post-Procedure Care

Immediately after the treatment, the lips will appear swollen as the laser will cause some swelling. This usually resolves within a couple of hours. There will be a slight superficial peeling on the 2nd to 3rd day. After the treatment, patients will be able to resume their daily activities immediately as there is no downtime. In the aftercare, we advise using SPF 50 lip balm or skin moisturiser and no lipstick should be worn for the next 24 hours. Do not consume spicy food or extremely hot liquids for 3 days. Avoid sports activities or swimming pools and the sun after the procedure.
