Reepot Laser

What Is Reepot Laser?

If you are dealing with sunspots, freckles, age spots, or uneven pigmentation that does not seem to fade, you may have heard of Reepot Laser as one of the treatment options available.

Reepot Laser is a 532 nm Nd:YAG laser system used for selected pigmentation concerns. It is designed to target areas of excess pigment in the skin while minimising unnecessary treatment of the surrounding skin.

For individuals exploring pigmentation treatment in Singapore, Reepot Laser may be considered for certain superficial pigmented lesions after proper assessment.

How Does Reepot Laser Work?

Pigmentation forms when melanin becomes more concentrated in certain areas of the skin. Reepot Laser works by directing laser energy into these darker areas. The pigment absorbs the energy, breaks down into smaller particles, and is then gradually cleared by the body over time.

This is why the treated spots do not disappear immediately. In many cases, the pigmentation fades gradually as the skin goes through its natural recovery process.

What Makes Reepot Laser Different?

Reepot Laser includes a Variable Spot Laser System, which allows the treatment settings to be adjusted according to the size and type of pigmentation being treated. This may be helpful when treating pigmented spots that vary in size or appearance.

The system also includes imaging support to help identify pigmented areas during treatment, together with contact cooling to help keep the skin surface more comfortable throughout the procedure.

These features allow the treatment to be tailored according to the pigmentation concern, the area being treated, and the individual skin response.

What Skin Concerns Can Reepot Laser Be Used For?

Reepot Laser may be used for selected pigmentation concerns such as:

  • Sunspots
  • Freckles
  • Age spots
  • Selected superficial pigmented lesions
  • Some cases of post-inflammatory pigmentation
  • Some cases of melasma, depending on the assessment

Not every type of pigmentation behaves in the same way. Some pigment sits closer to the surface of the skin, while other forms may be deeper or more complex. Because of this, treatment suitability should always be assessed carefully.

Why Assessment Is Important

Pigmentation can develop for different reasons. Some forms are closer to the surface of the skin, while others may be deeper or linked to factors such as hormones or inflammation.

Because of this, choosing a suitable pigmentation treatment in Singapore is not just about the treatment itself, but also about understanding the condition of the skin.

A proper assessment helps determine:

  • The type of pigmentation
  • Whether laser treatment for pigmentation is suitable
  • How many sessions may be needed
  • Whether other treatment options may be considered

What Can You Expect During Treatment?

During treatment, the laser is applied to the pigmented areas of the skin. Some people describe the sensation as mild warmth, tingling, or a light snapping feeling.

The cooling feature is designed to help make the procedure more comfortable. Depending on the area being treated, some patients may find that topical numbing is not always needed, although this depends on the individual and the treatment plan.

The length of the session depends on how many spots are being treated and the size of the area involved.

What Happens After Treatment?

After treatment, the skin may feel slightly warm or tight for a short period. It is also common for the treated pigmentation to appear darker at first before gradually lightening. This is a normal part of the process as the pigment breaks down and clears over time.

Estimated downtime is around two weeks, during which a DuoDerm (hydrocolloid) patch will be applied post-treatment and removed at your 2-week review appointment.

Downtime is usually limited for many patients, though recovery can vary depending on the individualโ€™s skin response, the type of pigmentation, and the extent of treatment.
