Eye Bag

Eye area issues are very common among patients over age 25 and may progress into eye bags if not treated or when ageing kicks in. If you suffer from having dark and deep-looking eye bags, you know how frustrating they can be. Not only are they unsightly, but they can also make you look older and more tired than you actually are. Fortunately, there are a number of things you can do to get rid of eye bags.

Eye Bags and Under Eye Bag Removal and treatment options

What are eye bags?

Bags under the eyes or commonly called eye bags is the mild swelling or puffiness under the eyes. As we age, our eye tissues and some muscles supporting our eyelids weaken. Due to the weakening of the eye tissues and muscles, some fats that supports the eyes move down into the lower eyelids causing the puffy appearance of the eyelids. Accumulation of fluid in the space between our eyes also adds up to the swelling.

What causes eye bags?

Here are the most common causes of eye bags:

  • Ageing Process
  • Fluid retention, especially upon waking or after a salty meal
  • Lack of sleep
  • Allergies
  • Smoking
  • Heredity

What are the types of eye bags?

Eyebags can be classified into 3 types:

  • Type 1: less prominent; only mild fat is accumulated around the eye
  • Type 2: more prominent than Type 1 and more noticeable; accumulated fat under the eyelids can cause small semi-circles, affecting a personโ€™s appearance
  • Type 3: the most prominent eye bag type; large accumulation of fats under the eyes can cause large semi-circles resulting in a swollen or droopy look.

When do eye bags require treatment?

Having eye bags is rarely a serious medical condition and treatments (aside from remedies at home) are usually done for cosmetic reasons. Having eye bags can significantly affect someoneโ€™s appearance thus treatment for removal is sought. Eye bag removal treatments range from non-surgical to surgical ones.

If the swelling is observed to be severe, painful, itchy, or red, it is recommended to seek medical help as your symptoms may be related to a serious medical condition.

Cambridgeโ€™s 4D Laser Eyebag Removal Treatment

What is Cambridgeโ€™s 4D Laser Eyebag Removal Treatment?

This laserย treatment is a non-surgical and non-invasive method for eye bag removal. It uses two different 4D lasers to administer treatment โ€“

  • a laser that stimulates collagen production and contraction of the fat pads and
  • a gentle laser that facilitates skin resurfacing and tightening of the eyelids.

The general procedure for this treatment is the use of laser technology for skin tightening and reduction of fine lines around the eye region, thereby getting rid of or reducing the bags under the eyes.

What can I expect during the procedure?

Prior to the procedure, a topical numbing cream is applied. To protect the eyes, an eye shield similar to a contact lens is also required. During the procedure, the deeper layers of the skin will be heated by the lasers at 42 โ€“ 45ยฐC. The Fotona Laser works on the inside of your under the eyelid to reduce the targeted fat below the under eyelid from the inside. This way, fat from the lower eyelid can be reduced without making any cuts or wounds (as in done in surgery). This heating will also stimulate collagen production. Collagen is an essential protein in the body particularly in the skin and regenerating them will give results such as a firm and tightened skin in the eyes.

What are the benefits of Cambridgeโ€™s 4D Laser Eyebag Removal Treatment?

  • Cambridgeโ€™s 4D Laser Eyebag Removal Treatment can effectively restore the skin around the eyes and reduce mild to moderate eyebags without damaging the skin around the eyes.
  • Youthful, radiant appearance around the eyes
  • Fewer wrinkles around the eyes and tighten droopy eye bags
  • Does not require any needles nor cuts
  • Safe and no downtime

How many treatment sessions are required for Cambridgeโ€™s 4D Laser Eyebag Removal Treatment?

Recommended treatment is at least 3 sessions. Sessions will vary on the patientsโ€™ eye bag condition and their response to the treatments.

Is there downtime for Cambridgeโ€™s 4D Laser Eyebag Removal Treatment?

Cambridgeโ€™s 4D Laser Eyebag Removal Treatment has no downtime, ideal for those who want to quickly return to their normal activities after the procedure. Recovery time is dependent on your skinโ€™s healing speed. It is often advised to avoid heat exposure 48hrs after the laser treatment and appropriate sun protection is required.

Cambridge Non-surgical Eyebag Removal

This Scarless Eye Bag Removal Treatment (EYE REVOโ„ข) originated from Korea is another treatment designed for eye bag removal and reducing wrinkles around the eyes. This is a non-surgical treatment and does not require going under the knife, so scarring is avoided. This is a signature service of Cambridge Medical Group.

What can I expect during the procedure?

The microneedling eye treatment is administered with topical anaesthesia (applied prior to the procedure). A fine microneedle that feels like a mosquito sting emits radio-frequency energy that accurately selects the targeted fats causing the eyebags. The targeted fats are removed by your own circulation without making any cuts, thus removing the eyebags. Collagen production is also stimulated, making the skin firm, and tightened around the eye. The whole procedure can be done in under 20 minutes.

What are the advantages of Cambridge Non-surgical Eyebag Removal?

  • Patented technology that effectively melts and contracts the fat in the eyebags.
  • Helps to stimulate collagen production resulting in a youthful appearance of the eyes
  • Get firm and tightened loose skin in lower eyelids
  • Non-surgical treatment
  • Minimal downtime and discomfort
  • Safe and effective treatment
