Lip Fillers

Lip fillers are hyaluronic acid injectable dermal fillers used as part of a cosmetic procedure to add volume and fullness to the lips. As hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in your body, it is safe to use and is used as a filler for lip enhancing treatments. There is no need to worry about having foreign materials in your body, as hyaluronic acid fillers will be naturally broken down into carbon and water by your body.

Those who want to have lip filler treatments tend to have dehydrated, disproportionate, or thin lips. Depending on the look that you want to achieve, lip fillers can give you thicker, fuller, and more revitalized looking lips, allowing you to achieve your ideal facial beauty proportion while still ensuring that the natural look is still retained.

Lip Fillers at Cambridge Medical Group

Lip fillers will enhance the look of the lips, helping you to achieve your ideal shape and fullness of lips. You can choose the areas of your lips in which you want to make fuller yet more natural-looking. While there are many different styles of lips that can be achieved from using lip fillers, not all styles would suit every individual, which is why it is important to have a personalised consultation with our doctors at Cambridge Medical Group before the treatment. It is only during the consultation at Cambridge that they would be able to advise you on how best to alter the look of your lips to complement your other facial features without looking unnatural.

Lip filler procedures, which are all performed by certified doctors, are quick and involve little downtime if the patient follows the doctor’s post-treatment care advice diligently. The area on and around the lips are cleaned and the area is numbed using an anaesthetic spray or numbing cream before the doctor performs the injections on the lips. The effect of the anaesthetics will make the patient’s experience more comfortable throughout the procedure. The number of injections required depends on the desired goal of the procedure, but it is nonetheless a quick and comfortable procedure that typically takes between only 5-10 minutes. Following the injections, an antibiotic ointment and a hydrating lip serum will be applied. The patient is free to reapply makeup before leaving the clinic following the treatment.

What is the recovery time?

The short downtime should not impede your ability to resume normal activities after the treatment, though it is recommended that strenuous physical activities like exercise are avoided during this period. Mild swelling, redness and soreness are expected in the period immediately after the treatment, but this would disappear between 12-24 hours post-treatment. The swelling can be easily relieved by placing ice packs on the affected area. Mild bruising and a small amount of bleeding may also occur, but these should disappear within one week. This risk can also be mitigated by avoiding the consumption of alcohol, aspirin, vitamin E and blood-thinners for a few days both before and after the treatment.

There are also rare instances where patients may feel some lumps while chewing, but these issues usually resolve themselves after a few weeks. Regardless, all patients at Cambridge who have concerns about their recovery process or require further assistance are welcome to visit the clinic for a post-treatment assessment by our doctors, whose years of training and experience will ensure a smooth recovery process, giving you peace of mind. Furthermore, any unwanted or undesirable results can be easily reversed by using an enzyme known as hyaluronidase which can dissolve the natural hyaluronic acid fillers.

How long does the Lip Filler last?

Typically, lip fillers last around 6 to 12 months.

An alternative to Lip Fillers - Fotona LipLaseâ„¢ Laser Lip Plumping

LipLaseâ„¢ emphasises the lips, giving it a fuller, more natural appearance by using laser energy through the process of collagen regeneration. Though the results are similar to lip fillers, this is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that does not involve puncturing or cutting the skin, with minimal discomfort. A needleless option for clients who are squeamish about needles, it could be used for all skin types with no downtime.

With no foreign object introduced into the body, this procedure works on boosting your own collagen production and synthesis to progressively give you naturally pouty, plump lips.

Benefits of the Fotona LipLase are:

  • Hydrated and plumper lips
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Lightens smoker’s lips and natural lip colour to a more pinkish tone
  • Smoothens wrinkles around the mouth
  • Defines the cupid’s bow
  • Volumises the lips
  • Natural results
  • No needles, downtime, or bruising
  • Visible results after the first session

Patients will note that their lips appear pinker and more alluring. This procedure is also quick, comfortable, and has no downtime.
