Blackheads are small, dark coloured bumps that form on your skin as a result of clogged hair follicles. Blackheads, which are in fact a mild form of acne, are often associated with the nose because that is where they are very commonly found. However, they are also found on other parts of the face, as well as on other parts of the body, including the back, chest, neck, arms, and shoulders. There are several factors that contribute to the formation of blackheads. These include excessive body oil production, hormonal changes that affect body oil production levels and the formation of bacteria on the skin.
Although blackheads are not painful and do not pose any health risk, they are nonetheless a cosmetic concern and might cause some individuals to suffer from lower self-esteem as a result. There are several products available in pharmacies that promise to remove blackheads, but those might be troublesome yet ineffective. Fortunately, there are several non-invasive and non-surgical treatments available for those looking to remove blackheads. These blackhead removal treatments offered by Cambridge Medical Group have been recommended by Dr Lee Mun Heng because they are both safe and effective. Their non-surgical nature also means that post-treatment downtime is kept to a minimum since no needles or other risky procedures are involved. This also means that these treatments present only a low level of discomfort and that patients are free to resume their daily activities very shortly after the end of the treatment.
Cambridge offers 3 different blackhead removal treatment options, namely the Gold PTT, Aquashine BB Laser treatment, the Carbon Laser Peel treatment and the Neogen™ Plasma Skin Regeneration treatment. Although each approach the concern differently, they are all able to remove blackheads easily and effectively. However, you should first consult Dr Lee so that he can examine your individual situation and understand your specific beauty goals before recommending the treatment most suitable for you.
The Gold PTT Acne Treatment is the latest inclusion in Cambridge to help control sebum production and pore reduction.
Firstly, the pores will be thoroughly cleansed with a gentle and comfortable Aquajet Facial. This step cleans out the pores of all debris to prepare it for the following steps.
Next, a later of gold-coated silica nanoparticles will be applied and massaged into the pores using ultrasonic waves from the LDM® tech.
This is then “activated” with the Pico 450 laser, the fastest skin laser available, to destroy the sebaceous glands without causing any damage to the surrounding tissues.
Lastly, low-level laser therapy will be used to promise a speedy recovery for the skin.
Apart from cleansing the skin of blackheads, this procedure effectively controls sebum to reduce the recurrence of whiteheads and blackheads.
This procedure is painless, comfortable and has no downtime.
With the reduction of excess sebaceous glands, sebum (oil) production is controlled. This reduces the instances of blackheads that are a result of excess oil production. This will help to reduce the occurrence of blackheads for the patient.
The number of sessions required to achieve best results can vary from person to person depending on how the skin reacts to the treatment. This is usually determined by Dr Lee during your consultation. Each treatment is 45 minutes long. It is recommended that patients come in for treatment once every 2 – 3 weeks for 5 sessions or more.
The AquaShine BB Laser is a unique laser that clears pigmentations and improves the skin’s resurfacing and radiance quickly and effectively. The BB laser beam uses a new wavelength that specifically targets melanin pigments to stimulate collagen formation and improve overall skin elasticity. The Aquashine BB laser treatment improves skin texture and skin tone by concealing enlarged pores and getting rid of fine wrinkles. It is, as such, an option recommended by Dr Lee for those who would like brighter, clearer, and more luminous skin.
The Carbon Laser Peel, sometimes known as a “charcoal facial”, is a non-invasive facial peel that deeply exfoliates the skin. Other than remove blackheads, this treatment also helps to even out skin tone, tighten and shrink pores, and stimulate collagen production. A layer of carbon is applied over the treatment area and left in place for it to penetrate the various layers of the skin. Following which, a laser will be used to destroy the carbon layer and any debris that caused clogged pores. This treatment helps to unclog and shrink pores while stimulating collagen growth, resulting in smooth, healthy, and porcelain-like skin. The carbon laser peel treatment has been recommended by Dr Lee because it is a gentle and low-risk treatment that is generally suitable for those who want to remove blackheads or address other skin concerns.
The Neogen Plasma Skin Regeneration treatment is a modern treatment that rejuvenates the skin gently while exfoliating blackheads. It also controls the sebaceous gland activity and promotes orderly skin renewal and shedding. This prevents pores from becoming clogged, hence discouraging blackheads from reappearing, making it an effective treatment those seeking smooth and youthful skin. In addition, the Neogen Plasma Skin Regeneration treatment can also be used to combat signs of ageing such as age spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. Treatment times vary depending on the treatment area and the condition of your skin but generally take no longer than 20 minutes per session. Its non-invasive and non-surgical nature means that it is pain-free and does not involve any anaesthetics. It also means that there is no downtime, so you can resume your normal daily activities after the treatment is complete, making it a great treatment for busy individuals who lead a hectic lifestyle.
