Facelifts are among some of the most popular cosmetic procedures among older patients looking to lift sagging skin and restore its once firm and youthful appearance. Some people turn to expensive cosmetic creams that tend to over promise and under deliver while others decide to go under the knife for a traditional face lift that significantly more expensive, painful and requires a significantly longer downtime.
However, thanks to advances in the field of medical aesthetics, there is a solution to this without the disappointment of cosmetic products or the side effects of a surgical procedure - the face threadlift.
Here at Cambridge, we pride ourselves with our signature Ultra V treatment. It is a non-surgical and minimally invasive way of lifting the skin. It is designed to provide an added lift to sagging skin in an au natural way. It makes use of thinner and less invasive Polydioxanone thread that performs the added function of stimulating collagen synthesis which tightens skin and produces the much coveted V shape face.
During the thread lift procedure, Dr Lee places ultra-thin. board-certified Polydioxanone (PDO) threads. These threads are designed to be biocompatible and thus fully absorbable by the skin. The way this works is that by introducing a thread into your skin, it promotes the body's collagen production as the body sees the area as 'damaged'. This brings firmness back as collagen is one of the most important proteins required in maintain the structural stability of the skin. There are three main types of threads used: Mono threads, Screw threads and Cog threads.
Mono Threads: They consist of a single polydioxanone filament inserted in a mesh-like pattern and patients average 10 to 30 threads. They provide a very effective tightening effect by inducing collagen stimulation which aids in combating sagging skin and wrinkles.
Cog Threads: Similar to mono threads, these contain barbs that can attach to the underside of the skin to provide additional support along with promoting collagen production. These are the type of threads that can provide the much sought after lifting effect to the treatment area such as the eyebrows, jowls and nose
Screw Threads: These consists of one or more polydioxanone threads wound around the inserting needle to amplify results. It helps to add volume to the sunken area during the thread lifting process and are considered the most efficient way to deal with sagging skin and obtain a sharper looking face.
Patients experiencing mild to moderate amounts of skin laxity are more suitable for thread lifts. It is also suitable for patients over the age of 55 that are unable to undergo traditional facelift due to medical reasons. Those who seek a more V-shaped face will be also be given a customised treatment plan by our doctor, who has years of experience in this practice. Ultra V Lift patients in Singapore are often aged from 25yrs onwards when skin tissues start to thin and collagen fibres begin breaking down. This shows up as sagging skin, deep creases, folds and wrinkles. The main aim of an Ultra V FaceLift is to help reduce the visible signs of ageing.
Depending on each patient's skin condition, the results of this V-lift thread lift can last from 1 to 2 years. Repeated thread lifting and multiple applications of the Ultra V facelift may be performed to further improve the patient's skin condition (Individual results may vary according to existing condition).
Recovery time
Such thread lift procedures are so appealing due to the significantly shorter downtime patients experience post-treatment. During traditional surgery, patients must be heavily sedated due to its extremely invasive nature and thus they would also have to make arrangements for people to come down to take them home and to take close to 1-2 weeks of leave from work to recover. Thread lifting on the other hand only requires numbing cream and local anaesthesia to be applied to the treatment area and the procedure is relatively quick taking not more than an hour. Patients will be able to drive home and continue life as usual after. This is why face thread lifts are the procedure of choice for those with demanding careers and home life.
Risk
Traditional facelifts are extremely risky due to how invasive it is. There is a significantly higher amount of complications that can arise as a result. Severe bruising, scarring and bleeding are extremely common. With thread lifting, the risk falls exponentially. The rare cases of irritation and infections can be immediately reversed by removal of the threads.
Cost
Thread lifts are significantly more affordable than traditional facelifts due to the easier application process, no need for any surgical procedure and do not require the use of general anaesthetics.
