Profhilo Guide

back

Heard of Profhilo as a skin remodelling treatment but still not sure why it's so highly raved? If you're wondering what the hype over Profhilo is all about, here's everything you need to know about Profhilo.

Have you ever realised that before you go on a holiday, your immunisation always comes in the form of an injection? It is quite amazing how our skin does a tremendous job of bestowing upon us with a barrier against the outside pollutants and chemicals. However, it also means that when you want to experience ridiculously fast, potent results, you need to go a couple layers underneath it.

The wonderful thing about collagen, what gives our skin its perky, flexible strength, is all not as effective when you try to administer it topically. Unfortunately, the molecules are too large to enter the skin and the same goes with hyaluronic acid which is where injectables enter the scene. So by now, the concept of injectable skincare may sound quite scary, but the truth of it is far less chilling.

Are you looking into the firming and improvement of skin elasticity but are not quite willing to venture into thread lifting or changing your facial profile with surgery? Profhilo may, in fact, be exactly the treatment you are looking for. The best part is that it does not change your facial contours or freeze your face. This makes it a safe, starter treatment for anyone nervous about their first time or needles.

What is Profhilo exactly?

Profhilo is a diffusible Hyaluronic Acid (HA) gel and, unlike other fillers, is not identified as a dermal filler nor a skinbooster or revitaliser. It has been specially designed to remodel the different layers of the skin tissue and does not change the shape of your face. One similarity it possesses with other dermal fillers is that it is used to replace lost volume.

Profhilo is a product available that has been on the market since 2015 and is based on stable, hybrid, and cooperative complexes (HyCoCos) produced by means of NAHYCO® Hybrid Technology, which is an innovative thermal process that rules out the use of any chemical reagents. [1]

One of its unique properties is that it attracts water molecules, and is used in moisturisers and moisturising serums often. However, what you find in cosmetic products tend to disappear quite quickly which is why we are advised to apply it twice daily, morning and night.

This treatment has been gaining popularity as the choice of aesthetic treatment quite quickly for those with droopy skin. The first revolutionary bio-remodelling “injectable moisturiser” that addresses skin laxity and signs of ageing through the bio-stimulation of collagen, elastin and adipocytes (fats) that were lost through skin ageing. Profhilo does not just offer total rejuvenation of the whole face, but also adds in the benefits of giving the skin enough of a volume plump to even out fine lines and wrinkles. It also smooths out the skin texture while boosting your collagen and elastin levels as well as promotes wound healing. The hyaluronic acid found in Profhilo has been cross-linked which boosts the bonds between the molecules such that it stays in the skin for a longer time.

  • One of the highest concentrations of HA (64mg/2ml)
  • Provides tissue repair process that is ideal for acne scarring
  • 20% hydration increase
  • 12 times collagen increase
  • 8 times more lasting than regular non-cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid injectibles

There are certain unique features of Profhilo that make it stand out from its competition of other skinboosters and dermal fillers in the market and these factors are listed below.

Bio-Remodeling Sagging Skin

Profhilo when injected into the skin, works in the epidermis, dermis and superficial fat layer by invoking a bio-remodelling process. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is delivered in high concentrations and does not make use of any chemical cross-linking compounds. The concentration of HA in comparison to the average skin booster is 5 times more, at 64mg/2ml. [2] This aids in stimulating the natural production of collagen and elastin in the skin, hence, commonly referred to as an ‘injectable moisturiser’.

Allowing for continuous yet natural-looking refinement, hyaluronic acid is released slowly over time making use of thermal cross-linking NAHYCO technology. This allows the bio-remodelling process to take place. Profhilo is stabilised and refined through a patented technology between low molecular weight HA (L-HA) and high molecular HA (H-HA) that results in Hybrid Cooperative Complexes (HCC). Generating outstanding physical properties such as low inflammatory response and low viscosity, HCC aids in improving HA stability. This hybrid complex bio-stimulates 2 types of collagen and elastin in the three main layers of the skin. The results are effective yet subtle, and will show itself gradually over the course of a few weeks. For those that prefer a less detectable procedure, Profhilo is the best choice.

High Even Spreadability

Hybrid Cooperative Complexes (HCC) warrants greater integration into the skin after being injected which avoids any formation of lumps. Profhilo’s technology ensures that the treatment process and effects differ greatly from traditional skinboosters and face filler treatments. It also has a smoother consistency, allowing the serum to spread out evenly under the skin. This benefits patients by remodelling skin laxity and significantly tightening and lifting the skin.

Another noteworthy mention is that Profhilo does not contain additives such as BBDE or Lycodine. This ensures that the treatment is biocompatible, regardless of its high HA content, ensuring patient’s comfort before and after the treatment as well as safer, reaction free results. Over a period of time, these results include enhanced skin hydration and skin quality in both the epidermis and dermis layers for a firmer, more youthful appearance.

5 BAP Injection Technique

Profhilo is mostly used to treat the lower face, and sometimes around the abdomen, neck and decolletage. For the face, Profhilo injections are carefully mapped on the face and is administered through the Bio Aesthetic Points (BAP) method which includes 5 injections on each side of the face. BAP plots are chosen in respective anatomic areas, to amplify the diffusion of the serum.

Profhilo has the benefit of fewer injection points when compared to previous skinbooster treatments which tend to require more than 30 injection points. Through the BAP technique, the risk of bruising was lessened as well as the reduction in pain and occurrences of injection lumpiness, redness and irritation. Maximum results can be achieved with less discomfort and fewer treatment sessions with Profhilo. This is especially useful for busy individuals who would like to minimise their recovery time.

Profhilo is administered through 10 BAP injection points for the neck to achieve anti-ageing benefits from the inside out, and 20 BAP injection points for the abdomen to provide efficient tightening. The results are swift though given that it is a bio-stimulator, lifting and tightening of the skin can take between 3-6 months to show. As early as 1 week from the treatment, immediate hydration effects can be seen while better results can be noticed 1 month following the treatment.

At Cambridge Medical, we advise patients to go for at least 2 sessions, with one month apart in between. The results last for about a year, with some patients returning

No Downtime or Pain with Profhilo

After going through the Profhilo treatment, there is no downtime needed though some may see slight bruising. Patients should also avoid sports or physical strain for a day, and refrain from consuming anti-inflammatory medication and alcohol for two days. The treatment is a reasonably quick procedure that can be done in 10 minutes, during which the patient can experience slight discomfort and small bumps from the injections.

These bumps will diminish within a few hours. Topical numbing agents, as well as ice, can be applied for those who prefer it.

This treatment is best suited for those above the age of 30, and/or individuals lacking in skin laxity, looking for a subtle lift. A surgical or thread facelift may be advised for individuals that prefer a more dramatic result. Here at Cambridge Medical, we offer other aesthetic therapies that Profhilo can be combined with to help boost the stimulation of collagen to achieve your desired results such as FOTONA 4D® Laser, Doublo Gold HIFU, AirJet Facelift etc. To summarise, Profhilo is a relatively quick and easy procedure that is 10 minutes long and is safe. The treatment works by administering five small injections on either side of the face of Hyaluronic Acid into the skin, which evenly spreads out once injected.

Every day, all of us naturally create and break down hyaluronic acid though as we steadily age, the process starts to slow down. Profhilo doesn’t just offer firmer and more elastic skin but also stimulates the skin naturally to produce more collagen and elastin, which gives the skin a bouncy, smooth look and feel.

The injection delivers ample amounts of hydration with the use of Hyaluronic Acid, without dramatically changing the facial line. For more information on the treatment, visit our Profhilo page. Make sure to consult your doctor prior to any treatments or cosmetic procedures for a better gauge on if the treatment is suitable for you.
